Fanuc Welding Robot Teach through software

Hi Everyone!

I have Fanuc SIT Touch Sensing (RTL-J536-AT Fanuc Seam Tracking Welding (RTL-TAST-AT) Constant Path Software (RTL-R663) RJ3iC Controller (165 kg CAP 2655mm Lincoln Power Wave 455M(Welder) Lincoln Wire Feeder.

Problem that i am facing is with parts to be welded. Parts need hard-facing but many that come back need build up with weld and machined back down, then go back on robot for hard-facing. it would take too long to teach each part to the robot. Can you suggest a software out there that can 3d scan an object, put into program to outline points of welding?

I would really appreciate any guidance!

    Hello Bailey, 

    Hope you are doing good. 

    Basically there are two methods you can use to scan your model. I believe the work piece is small in size. 

     

    1. Using 3D scanner machine 

     

     

     

     

     

    Above are the pictures of a 3D scanner machine. You just need to simply put the part on the rotating disc. The machine will scan all the sides and will generate a .obj file. You need to just refine it with the help of photogrammetry software. Next convert your file into a cad model and import into Roboguide then do the touch up. There is also option in the 3D scanner software , you can directly do the cleanup in it. 

     

    2. Using Mobile Phone

     

     

    Second method is cheap one. I suggest you to try it out . If its not successful then you can go for first method. You can use high-end cameras or mobile phones to take pictures and import into photogrammetry software. Next follow the step as mentioned in the first method. In this method only capturing device is changed. 

    In both methods , It requires a good hands-on grip over the software. Indeed it will be handful when it will be used on regular basis.
