Bootup problems

Hi all, My FANUC model is S420iW and it has an RJ2 controller. I have tried to start my robot right now but its teach pendant is not loading the bootup and is still standing with its first taken image having details of its controller. I am also not able to cold start the menu or go to controller.

However, after sometime I was able to move it to some steps after i was able to load its teach pendant. Teach pendant loaded its both compressed and uncompressed data. After loading the entire data, it stated "checksum: 15716B74".

Now suggest me how can i correct these problems?

    I do not think that there would be any information shown on the TP as it starts up along wit checksum, ROM, and RAM etc. I have a belief that the status is on the internal processor of TP. Therefore, you are required to have a look at the LED status over main card of CPU and if they are showing any progress all throughout the boot process, then it may assist you showing the software or hardware problems if any. Look for information through which you would be able to translate the LED status in to sorting out the actual problems. good luck

    Laurance, yes, you are right to some extent. I have even tried to replace it's CPU with another but it was still not bootable. However, after i have changed the entire controller, it re-booted and then worked well. However, i have then replaced the new CPU with older one then problem was persistent again. I believe that main problem is in CPU but I am thinking how can the entire CPU be faulty. Any idea?

    Hey Juan,

    Before you think to change the entire CPU please try out the solution which I am suggesting.

    Electrolytic capacitors are the components used in Power Supply of the CPU. I think that some of the capacitors may have failed letting letting the DC power turn into a pulse train and was keeping the CPU for waking up.

    Check the power supply or replace it's module. I believe it will be okay then.
