Answered Controller Cabinet Design

Hello Friends ,

Greetings for the day. 

I have two R-2000i  with R-30iB controller. The is lots of dusting near the controller box area. I am planning to design a cabinet for  controller. But I have fear about the temperature rise if it is concealed. So i am planning to use air-conditioner.

Is anyone from HVAC area or any electrical engineer who can help me to find out which air-conditioner or what size of air conditioner will be best ?

    Hello Chadwick ,

    Of course you need air conditioner for your cabinet.

    So basically you can select the size of air-conditioner i.e. 1 ton , 2 ton etc by calculating the thermal load or you can say BTU.

    Now for calculating the BTU you need to know how much watt is your system generating. For your controller you can see the watt usage by following method. ( see image).

     

    Power consumption is also mentioned in the manual as well. Beside you can measure with multimeter. Measure Current and voltage. Multiply the current and voltage , you will get watt value.

    So, Now We can calculate BTU by converting the watt into BTU. So lets say its 304W , 1 Watt = 3.4 BTU

    304 x 3.4 = 89 = 1033BTUS

    • 12000 BTU = 1 ton

    1033btus = 0.08 Ton.

    You can use 0.5 Ton capacity Air conditioner.
