How to replace the PCMCIA card slot adopter with that of USB slot for backups?

Hi, I am having a PCMCIA slot on my FANUC robot RJ3iB controller. I am interested knowing any way through which I may change the adopter card allowing me to make bakcups through a USB or flash drive.

For your information, i must state that I am also having another FANUC R30iA controller which is allowing me to take backup directly through USB or flash drives. I have search abundant materials over internet regarding this but could not find any reasonable answer, therefore, I came here to seek help as this blog is having experts of FANUCs robotics.

    Hi Laurance, 

    Are you having setup for compact flash drive to that of an PCMCIA adopter card? As far as I know the older RJ2 FANUCs are using these card which were in similar shape to that of PCMCIA port, but these were working in a different mode. I once did this task and I unplugged the flash card out of the adopter and plugged it in to the universal media adopter which i bought. The slot was located in the camera section of the robot and if you know then the cameras are having slots for compact flash cards. This is how you will be easily getting a USB way for permitting storage on to the computer for your controller images. However, you have to bear it in mind that this way is only usable for the RJ2 controllers having an SRAM card. Thank You

    Hey laurance, have you thought about using the Kodak's 5 in 1 card reader? I will suggest you to try it as it is very good and will serve your needs.
