Answered PLC use for controlling weld command

Hi all,

I am interested in controller the welder for feeding wire to and forth through using my panel view component. I have already done the necessary connections among panel view and the PLC, PLC and robot as well. However, i am facing problem that i am not able to convert the robot DI from the PLC to robot output and to the welder. I have tried my best for the command interconnection among output and input but the signals of weling are listed in the output and I am not able to find the option of interconnection. If anyone has an idea please don't hesitate to share. The model of my welder is Panasonic YD-350RF.

    Can you tell me what is the software level and controller generation? Also please mention whether you are taking an inch feed rate for instance changing or wire spool or actual parameters of wire feed parameters. All mentioned can be easily done by writing system variables

    The PLC is AB MICRO 830 and the programming software is CCW. 

    I would like to ask you how am i suppose ot proceed with the conversion of robot DI to that of robot WO? As far as I am concerned, i did the connection among PLC and robot and the welder and robot. 

    The process is that the panel view is master and PLC is slave, then PLC is master and robot is slave, and finally robot is master and welder is slave. I am having trouble only at the robot end as I am not able to get any signal from the PLC as robot is having digital input and i am not able to interconnect the output and input which i want. 

    I have also figured out that what is the reason behind the control of welder but i tried my best connecting both PLC output and welder input, however it went in vein because of voltage mismatch between PLC and welder. Now I am desiring to have a gas start and inch to and forth movement through 3 outputs and gas start output controller to the welder and putting gas valve to open position in the form of forward and backwards while pressing the Wire- and Wire+ over the teach pendant. I hope it is more clear to you now.

    dear chang,I meant to ask the version of FANUC robot controller and its software such as R-J3iB Arctool 6.4. 

    Anyhow, I am now able to get your requirements now. You don't have to vary the speed with the run wire FWD & BKWD ON & OFF (WO4/5).  This is because it maight be tricky and i assume that RJ3 having process IO as I did this quite a few times but ended up in spliced in wire over CRW1 to an inch in forward direction. This might be written in the form of a MACRO and being assigned to PLC in macro table.

    For example, pressing an inch in forward direction on the HMI will be sending the DI x to Robot and the DI x trigger macro in the TP program. The macro i am giving you below.

    WO[4] Inch Fwd=ON, Pulse 5 sec

    End

    Now in case if you are reading a macro assignment then you can also assign a non-motion in the TP program to almost any type of input. However, you have to make it sure that you are getting the right set group mask for all that you are creating the MACRO program of TP.
