The output wiring of the SFDO

Hello folks,

I am in need to do the safety wiring of the output signal having a pulse check enabled with a safety relay. 

I am not able to figure out that how will i wire the output for activating the relay? I have also tried the 4 Dual Channel, 1 no from the +24V and 1 No from the 0V which is CAT4PLE but the relay is already sending me 24V over the S13.

Can someone explain me how the wiring of the relay is made with SFDO? For your information, I am using the external power supply along with relay. Now please guide me whether or not to use the 24V and 0V for the safety output instead?

I will be obliged for the help.

    Dear Laurance, it's always pleasure to answer your questions.

    For the solution of problem that you mentioned, you may try the DUAL CHANNEL, 2 No Contacts from the +24V DC and use the S14 and S34 for pairing up for SFDO.

    thank you so much for your response.

    I think that it is still going to be the CAT4 PLE in case if the pulse check is enabled. I have tried my best to put the following:

    SDFO11 to S13 24V to S34

    SDFO21 to S14 0V to S13

    After implementing this, the relay input is activated but the output is not getting closed. Therefore, I want to ask that whether I need to connect, the 24V and 0V from the SDFO or i can use an external power supply? I've been scratching my head for days on how to wire this relay with Safe output.

    Dear Laurance,

    I don't know whether it is CAT4 or not. I am not quite sure about it. Therefore, I would recommend you to talk to the company about it whether or not you have a shirt check among S14 and S34. 

    However, you may try following:

    SDFO11 to S14

    SDFO21 to S34

    When it comes to the choice of 0 to 24 volts, then in case if you have used the external 24V DC then you are required to have 0V connection with robot. Now keeping S13 open, SDFO11/21 has to have its power keeping S44 open.

    Thank you so much for such an extended response. This is working fine but I wanted to be sure of what I am going to get in the process. Actually, this is a little bit confusing as I have always thought the pulse check to be coming from 24E over the CRMB2 connector. Therefore, just to make myself a bit more sure, based on the example that you mentioned that for 2 No. at the 24+. I hope I am right here and I just need to leave S13 open for the power.

    Moreover, there is nothing short among the A2 and S24 because and I am having an external power supply for powering up the relay at A1+ and A2- So 24+ and pulse check is coming from SDFO21 to S34, out from the relay at S24 to 0V on CRMB2. The power at S14 is coming from S34 which going to the SFDO11 at 0V.

    Please let me know whether I have understood everything correctly or am I missing something?

    Hi Laurance,

    I would say that pulse check has no concerns with the external relay that you are using. It is only serving purpose of safety of FANUC's output for its certification of CAT4. Actually, when you are making both wires short i.e. "SDFO11/21" but keeping the pulse check in active state, its system is then faulting out and letting you know that short is existing.
