I would like to ask some help from you: is it possible to milling wood workpieces (with good surface quality) using a robot ?
If yes what are the pros and contras to machining with a robot instead of using a CNC machine?
Any advices, experiences, suggestions related to this topic are welcome.

Fanuc Robots are capable of doing milling work on any metal or non metal surfaces. As CNC machines have limited axis capability i.e. 3 axis , 4 axis and 5 axis. But when there are surfaces or particular portion , which is not even possible with 5 axis. You will required 6 axis robot in that case.
Talking about the accuracy , If you check the fanuc data sheet of robot. It has a really great accuracy range. check out this in below image. It has Repeatability of 0.05 mm. Which is really great for wood surfaces.
Also I am sharing you few videos of wood cutting performed on fanuc robot. Which you can refer to verify the surface quality.
So, I believe you can carve beautiful wooden work pieces with help of the FANUC ROBOT.

Thank you for your help. Very nice works.
I have been thinking about the stiffness of the system. If the cutting forces are too high it could cause vibrations.
Maybe it is necesarry to use a large robot not just for the workspace but because of stiffness.
