Connecting R30iA with RS-232

Hi all, 

I have FANUC ARC MATE with R30iA controller.

I need using the laser point sensor for the distance computation.

I desire to send sensor's output to robot's controller through RS-232. 

However, i am not able to get the exact variable of system which is causing it.

    Howard Coleman Can you tell if you are already using the communication port for PLC or something? If yes then I don't think robot can deal with more than one thing on serial port.

    Hi,

    The sensor is meant to measure distance only and it's maker is BANNER and it is using the RS-232 protocol.
