INTP-311 Uninitialized data is used in a KAREL program (R-30iB)

INTP-311 is a KAREL program error. It means the program tried to use a piece of data that was never given a value: a variable that gets read before anything sets it, or a position it uses that was never taught or loaded.

First, get the specifics from the alarm. The message includes the program name and a line/variable reference (the (%s, %d) fields you see on the pendant), so note those from MENU > ALARM before you do anything else. That tells you exactly what's uninitialized.

Here's the catch with your situation: you inherited a compiled program (a .pc file), and a compiled KAREL program can't be opened or edited on the teach pendant. So how you fix it depends on what kind of data the alarm is pointing at:

• If it's a global variable, you can seed it before the program runs without touching the source. From a TP program, the line $[PROGNAME]varname=value writes straight into that KAREL program's global, so set it there before you CALL the KAREL program.
• If it's a position, just teach or load that position data so it exists before it's used.
• If it's an internal variable set only inside a branch that didn't run (a classic cause), you can't reach it from outside. For that you need the original .kl source from the integrator: add the initialization (or a UNINIT guard), recompile with ROBOGUIDE or KTRANS, and reload the .pc.

So the order is: read the alarm to see what's uninitialized, then take the path that matches. If it turns out to be buried in the program logic, ask the previous integrator for the .kl source before anything else, since that's the only way to change what the compiled program actually does.

Note: this is for R-30iB / R-30iB Plus. Older controllers can differ, so confirm against that controller's alarm list if you're on something else.
