I am in great trouble and have a request to all of you regarding helping me to figure out the FANUC's new privacy policy regarding the pulse encoders.
I have been working on FANUC robot having a bad wrist encoder, and i went online to seek help. I saw a post somewhere suggesting i must replace encoder so i placed an order. The encoder which was suggested was not best fit i guess so I called the FANUC manufacturer about my problem.
The manufacturers have asked me of 'How did I get that part, because you are not able to get encoders without the complete motor/encoder assembly?'.
So I had to order the entire motor with the encoder and pay a restocking fee to return the encoder.
Can anyone of you tell me why is this? Is this just to increase spare parts sales as an $1K encoder replacement is at a minimum doubled to a $2-5K motor replacement?
Also, I noticed that all of my new robots have the same part number for the encoder even if they are obviously different encoders.
Please give me your feedback as soon as possible.
