Answered Profinet vs Profibus

- Profinet and Profibus are different communication method. They uses different type of port. Profibus uses 9 Pin connection , while Profinet uses RJ45 cable. 

- Profibus has a switch pass on , with ON/OFF option. So when there are more then two devices are connected in profibus network End switches needed to be ON and middle switch need to be OFF. Profibus can have max 127 connection with unique address. Some profibus device address need to be set with dip switches. 

- Profibus network has speed of 96 kbps - 12 Mbps. Cable length can be varied from 100 mtr to 1000 mtr. As the length is lower the speed is higher.

- Profinet has speed of 100 Mbps at cable length upto 100 mtr with response time of 1ms. Router Switch can be used to expand the network. 

- Due to its higher speed and greater flexibility , Profinet network are used widely and become a preferred communication protocol for industrial application. 

As fanuc robots are concerned , Fanuc is equipped with both of the option. Depending upon your application. You should select and use Profi network. My advised will be go with the Profinet Communication.
